Another render from yesterday. And a design that is ostensibly another DC superhero, not that you’d know if I didn’t tell you…

…so I won’t!

World-famous illusionist “Anna Ocean” in a bikini and a cardigan. (Totally not Zatanna, you guys.) She said this outfit was a response to the unseasonably warm weather this week. But c’mon, she’s worked Vegas! I think there is probably a heated pool somewhere in the context.

I haven’t been keeping up the daily renders. I wonder if I should go back to just posting a comic every week. I know I can in theory. But somehow it’s hard to switch back to that.

I have developed a habit of coming up with a “quick, last-minute” render and then abandoning artwork once I post that online. So I want to break that habit. This morning I rendered three completely different scenes before posting any of them.

This is the one I think I spent the least time on today. It’s an old unused scene of my interpretation of Wonder Woman. Technically, I did alter it a little bit today, making her legs a wee bit shorter and her arms a wee bit longer. Oh, and I added lights and picked a new camera angle. But the pose & outfit already existed, so it was rather quick.

Forty-nine years ago today, they killed the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Those that conspired to kill him were part of the power establishment, including government officeholders. They killed him to stop his challenge to the ruling class. Dr. King wanted to share the wealth of the nation with the people of that nation who were excluded from power; with the poor, the despised, and the oppressed.

I see people call themselves “conservative,” “conservatives,” “right-wing,” or the like for a lot of different reasons–some good, some bad. Even I’m “conservative” in some sense, on an issue or two. Tradition can be worth defending, sometimes.

But the United States of America has a history of ridiculous, extreme racism on one hand, and extreme, ridiculous “laissez-faire” capitalism on the other hand. In that context, “conservative” has a meaning. “Conservative” has a default, primary meaning. This is what it looks like; this is what it is.

A tradition of racial abuse, or of peonage, or of violence in the service of a ruling elite–that’s not a tradition worth defending or “conserving.”

(No art today.)

nudity (waist up), sexual implications... )

I’m dropping this business of not stating this woman’s name. She’s ‘Lia’ for reference purposes.

As for this shot, um, yeah, he’s naked, and I don’t know why….

I’ve been accused of having bad lighting on some of my images. But sometimes I just really want that subtle, true-to-life naturalistic lighting. Here’s an example I’m really proud of. I hope your screen can show the intricate colour variations.

Oh, is that today? I just happened to have this pink suit lying around.

“Brown sugar?”
“Castor sugar.”
“Texture matters.”
“Texture? You’re adding walnuts!”
“This isn’t your Grammy’s farm back in Ohio, this is civilization!”
Kal rolled his eyes. “Should I grind up the walnuts, too? For civilization?”
Zatanna opened the bag of walnuts and appraised them. “Yes, actually, you could crush these.”
Kal took a handful of walnuts and crushed them down to something like sand in his palm.
“Don’t crush them in your grubby hands, use the rolling pin!”
“My hands are clean!”
“A likely story!”
“Do you want me to leave?”
Rather than answer him, Zatanna spoke to the electric mixer, “Xim rof thgie setunim,” and set the oven to preheat.
“You know, I could bake the cookies with my heat vision.”
“It’s a way to practice fine control–”
“All right, fair enough.”
“Gnillor nip, hsurc stunlaw! Namrepus, og rehtob Rednow Namow!”

Greece is on “Summer Time” as of Sunday. So putting Evdokía in a bikini sounds appropriate, no?

No. It is gloomy, rainy, and cool.

Mamie here started as me fiddling with default Vicki 4. She still is pretty close, I guess. Not as leggy, though.

I look at this and wonder, not for the first time, if I should add some bulk to the arms of my cartoon avatar.

This is, like most of what I post anymore, a super lazy daily shot. This is the same outfit & almost the same pose as I had for my Thanksgiving comic over a year ago. I actually was starting to post it and realised I still had the “autumny” makeup on. …I decided at least to change that.

I was a little disappointed with this and didn't post it several days ago. But I'm posting it today because I haven't been getting much work done and thought this was probably better than what I did render today.

Today I opened a scene file I saved in 2013 and took some new shots. I think this is one of Stonemason’s urban sets.
