Oh, crap. There's huge pokethrough on the sleeves. OK, redo it.

Just love that I apparently am going blind.

OK, baby steps.

Do a better render of what I had open yesterday.

It's New Year's Eve.

I was going to try to produce some new art when I was doing the Art Advent Calendar on Bluesky, but it's hard to start again.

About to get through a calendar year having made NO VISUAL ART, and that feels so wrong.

My old version of DAZ Studio doesn't work, the newer versions confuse me still, and most of my old files I lost a few years ago. That last part is the most discouraging; I had years of character designs & personal hacks that just don't exist anymore.

I got on the DAZ3D site today, and they're breaking up with 3Delight, the fast render program. Ugh.

And yeah, I haven't cared enough to figure this out all year.

I'm trying to render something from a forgotten file that looks like I started it & left it 27 months ago, that's how bad it is.

And I have no clue when this new render program thinks it's even done.

Well, I still have 3Delight, so I can redo it.

But what is this lighting? I didn't put these fills in!

...

Somebody buy me a camera. I should go back to 35mm film.

Anyway, here's an artless piece of art.

I wonder where my wild animal models got to. :-(

Not only had I not opened DAZ Studio in over a year, but I'd pretty much stopped using my PC. I've been using smartphones to get online.

But OK, let's render something. I used to know how to do this! In an older version of the program, that I'd customised to suit myself.

And I had so many files to draw from, now lost. Early on, I thought of trying to rebuild. But I haven't.

This isn't very good, nor is it interesting; this is just me relearning & updating the process.

Have I posted an image of Stevie before? A decade ago I created her to be cartoon Nia's evil opposite (a silly idea).

This summer, I lost my PC, and all my art files from the last several years, and notes. I hadn't been backing things up.

I have a new PC, which doesn't want to run the old version of DAZ Studio I was using. The most recent version of DS is an adjustment, and I am not adjusted yet.

I don't know if I'm going to be able to rebuild much of what I did over the last 5-6 years.

Add to this that it seems like no one cares about my artwork. I'm feeling pretty close to done.

This isn't actually a planetoid; it's hollow and translucent, more like a bubble. But it looks spacy, right?

I seriously considered placing lyrics from Whitesnake's "Here I Go Again" over the background. Decided against it.

well, I don't know where I'm goin'
but I sure know where I've been
hangin' on the promises and the songs of yesterday
and I've made up my mind
I ain't wastin' no more time
but here I go again....

I put together the portrait-orientation version, then made a square version for Instagram, which I’m including because...maybe it’s better.

Then I uploaded these images and spent a half hour unable to come up with a title.

Playing around with a visual layout right now. I may have four points later. Or three, or five.

I get 150 icons?

Edit: I do! It's been a long time since I added any new icons, so:

I should just be a photographer, lol.

After magnetising this pullover (3D-Age Small Lovely II) with EasyBreast (yes my cartoon breasts are in fact partly third-party), I added a few magnets to the chest & abdomen to patch that. Then I put magnets in the armpits. It worked, but it takes a little while! And I've been lazy! So lazy!

This is actually a reused pose and lights from almost a year ago. Different hair & new camera, so it's not that obvious?

So I haven't been producing artwork for a month. In that time, Twitter has been undercut by new management, Tumblr is allowing artistic nudity, & dA is doing something daft with AI art. I may be back, but what does "back" mean?

(Oh, cool! dA has "Not authorized for inclusion in third-party AI datasets" checked by default? Apparently.)

Am I going to give this character another name at some point? Eh. I've thought about it, but this is who she is now.
