I call myself a 3D artist, and I certainly work with 3D elements, but what I publish is 2D. Is that odd? I'm not really an animator on the one hand, and I'm very much not a sculptor. What I do is like very slow photography with some photomanipulation mixed in.
So I shot cartoon Nia from three slightly different angles, & put them in an animation, thinking maybe that would feel more "3D." I don't know how well that worked. But you tell me!
Also, the background is all 2D, manipulated to follow the motion, because I'm terrible. Ha!

Hotlinking from deviantART because Imgur turned my GIF into an MP4 & I don't know how to embed that in Dreamwidth.
Anyway, I liked the shaded wireframe view at this angle enough to save a screenshot. Then I animated some ways of blending it with the final image.

“I’ll just render something quick, to post early today before working on something more involved.”
Animate it.
“Well, yeah, I can try. If it doesn’t work well, I can just post one of the frames.”
[several hours pass]
“So much for quick.”
A little herky-jerky, but while I could do a few more frames, it seems OK? Colours better than I expected for a GIF.

April 19, a little information about this:
I made a simple animation in APNG Assembler 2. Twitter & Tumblr break PNGs so won't show it. Twitter won't upload GIFs, but Tumblr will. So Twitter got two frames from it, Tumblr got those & a GIF version, & the animated PNG went to DeviantART.

I threw this together as a gag after looking at some old materials tests. Actually, it might be in line with what the materials tests were for, back in November. [shrug]
